WD EX4100 - Drive failure - WD60EFRX-68L0BN1

I currently have 4 6-TB RED drive - WD60EFRX-68L0BN1. It appears to be a known issue with the “68L0BN1”.

Can I upgrade just one drive to the WD Red Pro 6TB - WD6003FFBX?
Or do all drives need to be replaced to match the increased 7200 RPM of the PRO drives?

Thanks
ORA

Hi offroadace,

You, you can upgrade the drive to WD Red Pro 6TB - WD6003FFBX.

Interesting!!
Thanks. I do like that option.

WD support stated that this is not possible, but didn’t offer any substantial reasoning behind it.
My only guess would be drive speed or cache rate, but they couldn’t really confirm that question.
They also indicated I would have to replace ALL the drives at the same time, which would be $1000.

I was planning on upgrading, due to this failure, but wanted to do it incrementally to spread out the cost impact over a few months.
