WD Elements - Makes 3 sounds and then computer refuses to detect

Hi All,

I have a 500GB WD Elements external hard drive which I am using from past 7 years. It worked perfectly until today when my computer refused to identify the HD. It makes three sounds and then nothing happens post that.

I have tried 3 different laptops but no success. I have really precious data in this hard drive and have no back up at all. Can someone please let me know a solution to this. Or should I assume my hard drive is corrupt and data can not be retrieved.

can you explain hard drive spin condition? 2 question:
1,power on spin condition
2, does it still spin after 1 min?
