WD Black or WD Red drives

Hi,

I’m currently looking to upgrade my NAS (EX2) which only has 2 2TB drives. I was hoping to double it and get 2 4TB drives. I do a lot of lighroom photo editing / 4k footage editing and 3d modeling in 3dsMax and was wondering if it would be better for me to get a WD black drive considering it’s more powerful, or stick with the “more reliable?” WD red drives.

Would be awesome to hear from someone who knows

Hi LiamMunday,

For best performance, we always recommend to use WD Red Internal drives in NAS enclosure as WD Red drives with NASware 3.0 technology are purpose-built to balance performance and reliability in NAS and RAID environments.

For the moment I just not recommend any WD drive. Clicking issue and cause performance issue on my side with the black “performance” line.
