I currently have 4 WD red drives in the mycloud ex4, and I wanted to know if the black drives are better to have in the system? For those who have WD black drives is there any performance difference that is visibly noticeable?
red drives are optimized for lower power consumption and RAID array
my understanding is RED drives offer greater resistance to raid drop out, retry/resync variable spindle speed
all those features lower energy usage & vibration and noise and increase longevity
the black drives are for desktop use and are essentially the opposite of what you have currently.
When the limiting factors on your NAS is it’s SLOW ■■■■ POOR transfer speeds and GB connection
what performance enhancements are you expecting in the black drives?
