Red SATA SSD vs Red HDD in EX2 Ultra

Has anyone used the Red SATA SSD in the My Cloud EX2 Ultra in place of the standard Red HDD?

I would like to know if there is a significant performance difference. I’m looking at an Ultra with two 4TB drives in a RAID 1 configuration for consolidating my files and backing up my various PCs and smartphone.

I don’t know if it supports SSD (e.g. have TRIM support etc.), but I don’t think there is any performance difference. This NAS with one single Gigabit interface is maxed out at 1 Gbps or 128 MiB/s, which is less than the read/write speed of the HDD (about 150-200 MiB/s, with RAID1 the performance is the same as a single disk).

In some dual Gigabit ethernet NAS, there would be some gain with SSD, but not with this one.

Thanks for the reply. I read up on the TRIM command. Since it is an operating system command, and is implemented in Windows 10, I would expect it to work. However, I found an online review that said the SSDs are not supported. Since a reviewer would, I hope, be far more knowledgeable than myself I decided to use HDDs.
After reviewing a number of comments about issues with the WD NAS and reading the PC magazine reviews of the best NAS systems available for 2020 I decided to go with one of their recommendations (there is not one WD NAS in their reviews).
I prefer to buy American (even if higher cost), perhaps when I need to upgrade in a few years WD will be in the top reviews.
Thanks again for the help.
