Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD in MY Cloud EX2 Ultra?

I would like to know if anyone has used a set of WD Red™ SA500 NAS SATA SSD 4TB drives in any NAS unit. I’m looking at buying the My Cloud EX2 Ultra NAS and two of these drives and I would like to know if this combination will work before I buy. I know the part says NAS SATA but the online Chat person told me they have not been tested in the My Cloud units. So I am confused!

Try the dedicated subforum for the My Cloud EX2 series where users more familiar with the EX2 Ultra should be able to assist.

Basically most SATA drives will work in these My Cloud units (including the single bay unit the general subject of this subforum). Most NAS manufacturers cannot realistically test every single SATA drive manufactured so they test a select number that they recommend for their devices. For example the WD drives recommended for the EX2 Ultra:

Using an SSD drive is a bit overkill (due to their cost) when compared to a similar sized mechanical NAS drive like the WD Red that are typically used in these My Cloud devices.

@Tbear49 Have you already looked at the following?

Thanks for the help. I looked into the other forum, I will make an inquiry there to see if anyone has replaced the HDD in their NAS with the SATA SSD. I would like to know the performance difference, if there is any.

Thanks for your reply. I had looked at the recommended links. I must have missed the posted note though!
