What's in your Cloud?

Curiosity got the best of me so I decided to pull the covers to see what kind of drives were in my WD devices.

My Cloud Mirror 8TB - Two WD 4.0 black drives WD40EFRX
My Cloud 4TB - - - - - - One WD 4.0 red drive WD40EFRX
MYbook 4TB - - - - - - - One WD 4.0 green drive WD40EZRX

So I google the difference between the drives and first page says greens are slow and meant for backup/intermittent use and save electricity. Red are meant to spin 24/7/365 for upwards of twenty years in temperatures up to 300` F. Black drives are built speed; they can retrieve a file and deliver it before you even click on it. I may have exaggerated a bit but I read it on the internet so it must be true.

Odd that my ‘red’ and ‘black’ drives have the same model number but the black drives didn’t have the word ‘black’ on the sticker like the red and green do; they just had all black stickers. Maybe they are secretly ‘Red’ drives that don’t want to plug along all day. Maybe they want to be ultra fast ‘Black’ drives that are faster than the speed of light.

Anyway, that what’s in My Cloud(s).
