Ive got an issue with an WD MyBook 3TB. When connecting the unit, the computer doesnt recognize the drive at all. And its not possible as well to format it as well as to allocate a Windows drive letter.
When trying to mount it in Computer-Management, it shows the error seen in the picture attached to my post.
(Sorry picture is in german):
Short translation: Process could not be completed due to a view of the Disk-Management not being updated. Pls update the view by using the update task. If the problem persists, pls close the Disk-Management-Snap-In and reboot the computer or the Disk-Management-Snap-in afterwards.
I’ve seen somewhere in a forum that someone (a WD employee maybe?) posted an extra driver for the disk to try it out another time to get recognized by the computer.
Thx for your help! Unfortunately the DLG didnt help at all. I tried to follow your steps but the drive isnt recognized at all by any computer. As I wrote above, I saw somewhere that a community member posted a special driver or anything similar that helped.
I really dont know what to do further
I have been having the SAME exact issue for almost 5 months now. I have tried to make an RMA but the online form DOES NOT WORK. On top of that, when you go to the option to call WD, it sends you to a page with online support but NO PHONE NUMBER TO ACTUALLY CALL. My drive has very important information on it and I cannot access it. I am very frustrated with this terrible website and customer service.
We were going to escalate you, but saw that you were finally able to contact support and set up an RMA. We did have some technical difficulties this weekend with the support pages, but that has since been fixed. I’m glad you were able to work it out.
Here I am again! 4 months later and having the same problem with a “NEW” device that was sent to me. I will never buy a WD product again. Terrible customer service!!
