WD MyBook 2TB not recognized in any system

My WD 2TB, external HDD (My Book Essential) stopped working all of sudden. There is no error message. there is only power light. no blinking. Basically my Computer is not able to read it. I tried with different data cable, different system (both hardware and operating system), none of them work. I can feel the hdd revolving (vibration) and also When i open my Computer storage management the disk appears there, and my system says it is 100% free.
My warranty has elapsed already. I am just wondering, has it happened to anyone. is there any idea what could have gone wrong. Is there any chance of fixing it back, at least temporarily, so i can get all data out. ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Raymund,
Thank you for the reply. I have tried with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, none of them is working. :frowning:
may i know, did u replace your data cable? or the old one just works in 2.0 and not in 3.0

Thanks!
Praba

Hi Praba,

Last year i had , i think, there was a similar issue and i bought a new cable. Now i have tried both cables and both cables give the same result. When the MyBook is connected with the laptop (usb3) there is no connection. When i touch the cable nearby the connector of MyBook then there is a beep of the laptop. when i let the cable go again there is a beep. So i used 2 cables and there is the same problem. conclusion: the problem is in the Mybook itself. Before i bouth the MyCloud i did not use USB3, i had a similar problem earlier so i think there was already a hardware defect in the Mybook. Warranty has also elapsed
