Hello, i bought the MyCloud 4TB to get access and share photos and videos through the internet.
This ist my understanding of the term “cloud”. I have shared the link of a video and my friends can access by clicking on the link. But the video just stucks. My upload speed is 10mbit and the download speed of my friends are up to 200mbit. Is there any possibility to increase the performance and “playability” of videos?
More information is needed. What does “the video just stucks” actually mean? How are they accessing the link? Web browser, MyCloud.com, one of the WD programs/software/apps? Is the file being downloaded or is the person attempt to play the movie while it downloads?
Generally one can stream certain media content using the WD programs/software/apps from a remote My Cloud. The My Cloud apps can be downloaded from WD Support. When sending a “link” to another person they may have to actually download the media in order to properly play it.

One way to deal with this issue is to setup the other person as an actual User within the My Cloud Dashboard, grant them remote access, have them create a MyCloud.com account, then have them access the shared content through one of the WD programs/software/apps or MyCloud.com web portal.
On a side note, people often have unrealistic expectations of what certain devices like the My Cloud can do or what they are capable of. The term “cloud” is mostly just a marketing term used by various companies and results in different features/capabilities depending on that company. It basically means one can access their content from outside their local network. Far too many people expect the My Cloud to behave like Dropbox, Netflix, and other online storage or streaming sites. That is not always the case. The single bay My Cloud is a basic network attached storage device with certain remote access capabilities and features that (more or less) works best when using the WD programs, software, apps and MyCloud.com web portal.
