Using Restore on OS Reinstall

I needed to change a hard drive and reinstall Windows 7. I have a recent backup of files from Smartware on the old computer and I would like to restore some of them onto fresh hard drive. When I choose Restore, I only get a statement “You have not created a backup plan” Other options are grayed out. I can see my files in Windows explorer so I could drag and drop, but Smartware seems unusable for this purpose, which seems like a pretty big flaw in the program. Am I missing something?

Hello,

You can go to the backup folder called “WDsmartware.swstor”. it is located on the root of your drive and you can drag and drop the files you want into your new hard drive.

Yes, I said in my previous question that I know how to do that, but apparently you can’t use WD’s backup software to restore files in this case. Since one of the primary reasons one needs to restore files is a hard drive crash, this seems like a major limitation of the software and is therefore pretty useless to me.
