Unable to recognize additional storage drive connected to My Cloud

I’ve attached a SeaGate 3TB using the additional storage USB connection on my My Cloud device, however the device is not recognized.  Need help with troubleshooting this.


I’m having a similar problem.  Plugged in a flash drive and an external portable hard drive to my new 3TB my cloud and neither was visible.  No share.  No detection of a USB device.  

The external drive was getting power but just not visible.  

Support had me do a couple of different resets of the device.  Nothing. 

The basically said its a bad unit.   Just got it yesterday.  Had moved my entire iTunes library and 30+ GB of data to the device.  

Pissed I have to move it all back, return the my cloud, and start again.  Annoying.
