Hi All, I don’t usually post anything on community chats but I am hoping someone can assist me as WD Support was of no use and their solution just doesn’t make sense.
Last weekend I upgraded my My Cloud 8TB drive to OS5 from OS3 thinking it would be a good idea. By doing this upgrade to access my device now I have to reregister for the My Cloud service. It was pretty painless for the Admin account to gain access as this appeared to be mandatory but I could be wrong. When I attempted to create access for my own purpose using my email address rather than going through the process of registering my email address for the new OS 5 My Cloud I was taken to the OS 5 My Cloud login page which seemed bizarre. I even had my son register for the new OS 5 My Cloud and he was directed to the registration page and it worked also for him.
This is where the problems have arisen and the resolution from WD Support just doesn’t cut the mustard in my opinion. WD Support have told me seeing that my email address was previously registered using OS 3 My Cloud it is bad luck and I have to use a different email address to register for OS 5 My Cloud. I feel this is a poor experience and resolution and now I wish I had never updated my device to this new firmware version. I asked if they could just remove my email address and I was told no, create a new email address.
Does someone know how I can get around this issue and if this is not possible how I revert back to OS 3 on my device. I suspect that if I did that then any previously registered email addresses on the OS 5 My Cloud would probably fall into the same bucket where they couldn’t be used on OS 3.
If there is no way around this problem then it may be time to look for a new backup device as this isn’t fit for purpose anymore.
Please let me know your support case number that you have logged with customer support.
Also, if you haven’t done so already, please collect and attach the system logs to your case with the email address that’s causing you problems.

Thanks for getting in contact with me, my case reference is 210314-000903 and the person I spoke to on the phone was Emma S who more or less told me there wasn’t much that could be done to help my cause. So I have attached a screen shot of my cloud below with the email address I wish to use. In the email I receive from the sending the user below a link to register I am taken to the screen below for OS My Cloud. If I click the Sign In button I am taken to a login page which I can’t login as my email address hasn’t been setup for OS My Cloud 5 it is still linked to OS My Cloud 3, see screen shot below. I will reply to the email I last received and attach the zip file of logs for your purpose. I hope they can help.

Well what do you know I have successfully logged in today and I haven’t done anything different today than I have tried in the past. I clicked on the Sign In link in the email and I thought I would click Forgotten Password and change it to be sure. I successfully changed the password and then once I went back to the Sign In page I tried it and it worked. I don’t know what to say other than thank you if you happened to have done something on your end, if not, technology is a wonderful thing sometimes. You can close of my ticket now that I have logged.
This. I can’t create an administrator share. It’s not possible? I have spent all my cloud tab time trying to create that administrator share. Maybe that’s my problem. I will try and send an email to my other users what a true nuisance this OS5 has been. Not only can I not share via cloud access in a familiar way, without whatever this emailiing myself at all my user names is…but further I can no longer access my cloud without hooking up to its address serving router. Previously I was able to connect to the mycloud via its internally set static address from a router on a subnet adjacent to its. This Mycloud OS5 is not a good thing.
And the thing that really puts the punctuation to the futility is when you click on one of these dead ‘link’ or buttons in the mycloud interface. It has no way to send an email to my email account I used before but it lies to me and says “we’ll send you an email to reset your password”. Same for when I try to login or set up an admin cloud so I can get the cloud button to go on. Then the cloud button goes on for a minute till it remembers that it has no connection whatsoever to anything on the internet based at mycloud or wd.com or anything, and it just dies on there. No emails get sent, no passwords to an admin share get created. NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL. The OS 5 is PURE FRIGGIN ■■■■.
