Hi,
I have searched on the forum to see if this has already been answered - forgive me if this has, but I really can’t see it anywhere.
I have two 3TB MBLs and would ideally like one unit to ‘automatically’ synchronise data to the other (without having to use PC Sync software). I know it would be better to get a 2 or 4 bay NAS with RAID, but I have had my MBL for a while now and now it is cheaper just to add another on the network.
If I do need software, can anyone recommend a good package?
Thanks.
That’s what Safepoints do. Check the manual.
Safepoints can also be used to backup your MBL to any NAS drive connected to the same network (irrespective of make etc).
If your router supports USB Hard Drives, you can also run a safepoint to the USB Hard Drive (provided youve set up disk sharing within your router software).
i need this but too much coding involved! i think WD has to fix this, or offer a solution in the future. alot of guys are getting more than 1 mbl and we want the portability.
Last question (hopefully). Cannot see in the manual that when you request the safepoint to automatically update (say daily, weekly or monthly), I presume it only adds (or deletes) new data, and does not write the whole lot again. I am now transferring my media collection and will take 3 days and 14 hours! If it had to do this once a week there’d be little point.
Thanks
