Stuck on old firmware

Hi all,

I recently bought a My Cloud with 2GB and I cannot upgrade the firmware.

The device came delivered with 4.01.02-417 and tells me that a new update is available.

After starting the upgrade, the file is downloaded and the upgrade starts. The status stays then for some time at 10% and changes to a clock counting the time. After about 5min it says that the upgrade was successfull and reboots the system.

But then I am back still with the old version!

I tried already to download the file onto my laptop and upload it via the settings and did also a quick reset before trying to upgrade. No success.

As the web and app access does not work anymore with the old version I am quite annoyed and cannot ignore it anymore.

Hope someone has a solution!

I upgraded yesterday, so this is fresh in my mind.

Download the zipped .deb file to your PC; onto the desktop, for instance.

Unzip the file to give the .deb file.

Login to the Dashboard.

Go to Settings|Firmware and scroll down to ‘Manual Update’, and click ‘Update from File’.

Oh. Mine is greyed out. Now why is that…? It’s not the latest version.

And a System-only restore didn’t fix it, but it did destroy all my settings, of course…

This is a common issue - chance are if you look at the log file it is caused by a checksum error or an issue with the MD0 raid. I had the same issue no matter what I tried it would never update past V…417

Despite me pleading for help on this forum an answer was never given. WD will replace your unit for this error or if your confident in Linux you can do it manually but would probably need to reimage the partition structure which can be difficult as you need to remove the HDD from the Mycloud.

I personally would have replaced or take it back to your point of purchase and get them to exchange it.

I chekced the update.log and it seems the that it has a problem of mounting the MD0 and then of course writing to it.

So it looks like that I have to send it in as I do not want to remove it from the case.
