Smartware Stopped Backing Up

I have been backing up from my Windows XP PC to my WD Passport Ultra drive successfully for several months. I have recently deleted a lot of directories on my PC but noticed that they were still on the backup drive and causing confusion. I deleted the highest level of my personal directories on the backup drive in order to remove all the backed up files in the expectation that Smartware would detect this and cleanly backup all the data on my PC again. Smartware does not seem to have noticed the absent files and still says everything is backed up.

Could you advise how I can get Smartware to start backing up properly again, eg is there some way of resetting things so that it does a complete backup again from scratch and then backs up new files as they are created.

I am a novice so very specific instructions would be helpful and the easiest solution possible.

Thank you in advance for any help I can receive.

Hello,

If you want to delete the backup and start from the beginning you can delete the backup folder. This will make
Smartware start a new backup. The backup folder is called “WDSmartware.swstor” and it is located in the root of your drive.

Thanks Hamlet, I have deleted the folder and it now seems to have successfully completed a backup. However, I have created two new files since the backup to test that the ongoing backup is working (it is set to continuous backup), and unfortunately it does not seem to have detected these and has not backed them up. Can you or anyone suggest what I can do, as without the continuous automatic backup it is a major problem?

Thanks
