SES Driver Download Page SEVERELY OUTDATED ( Last Updated 04/16/2013 ) & VERSION # also OUTDATED

This page I am listing below is THEE download page for the WD SES Driver

WD SES driver download

AND IT HAS NOT BEEN UPDATE SINCE [Last Updated 04/16/2013]

I know this as I have found two updates via Windows update on my Win7 laptop

The File version # listed on the File Properties (WinXP = version tab; Win7+ Details Tab) for ALL three

versions I found is v1.0.7.2   (INCORRECT IN ALL THREE CASES)

these are the real version info found in the .INF files:

DriverVer=01/19/2011,1.0.0009.0

found on windows update, and the Update catalog:

DriverVer=12/16/2014,1.0.0010.0

DriverVer=02/02/2015,1.0.0011.0

Microsoft Update Catalog (requires Internet Explorer to view)

That link contains the search text  “WD SES Device” (I searched  the catalog via XP64)

which gives the downloads for the SES Driver…

the newset version being 02/02/2015

Inclosing WD needs to take better care of its website and staying up to date with its drivers and their version info!

AND FIX ITS BUGS!!

Hello there, from what you have posted here, the latest version of the SES drivers get installed once you plug the USB drive to the computer, then the operating system will get the latest version for your operating system.

If you check this link, it will help you with how drivers work:

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1708

ERRR THAT ( automatic install of drivers, ONLY WHEN doing it for the 1st TIME!!! )
ONLY WORKS on Win7+  because its still getting updates and ONLY WHEN I RAN windows update!

AND ONLY WHEN THERE WAS AN UPDATE! OR if I use DeviceManager to manually check for a driver update and AGAIN THIS ONLY WORKS IF an update is released onto Windows Update!

i.e.
I have Windows XP Professional 64bit (I PREFER XP to any of the NEWER BLOATWARE!) on my main desktop PC

which is an upgraded old LAN center gaming rig.  and Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my old 2008 Toshiba Laptop!

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1708

THAT LINK ^ if you follow IT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD BACK TO THIS ONE

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/5419

I CLEARLY SAID THOSE DRIVER FILES LINKED  THERE ARE OUTDATED!!!

AND THAT LINK IS LINKED TO FROM THE  [WD DOWNLOADS PAGE]   under

“Most Popular Downloads”  right side of the page,  with the link label “WD SES Driver (64-bit)”

IT IS MY RECOMMENDATION, that the download page be split in two!

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/5419

one for the other files(SmartWare) and a NEW PAGE JUST FOR THE SES DRIVERS!!

WITH A CHANGELOG (including version #, TimeStamp for compiled OR posted time/date)

the change log will help any ADVANCED users grabing updates,
KNOW IF AN UPDATE FIXES ISSUES THEY MIGHT BE HAVING or even bug-reported themselves.

ps:

I am a PC Enthusiast and know my way around the innards of a PC intimately!..

so your reply was NOT helpfull as it was the type of reply directed towards a newb… :confounded::robotfrustrated:

you might look at a post carefully and see about the competents of a a person and base your reply on that!
