SanDisk Professional 12TB G-DRIVE No Autoboot

I purchased two SanDisk Professional 12TB G-DRIVE PROJECT Thunderbolt 3 External Hard Drives recently, and daisy chained them first an iMac then to an M1 Studio desktop. The drives are fast and I’ve not had any copy errors. My issue, though, is that they don’t automatically start when I boot up either of the desktop Macs. What’s up with that? It’s hella inconvenient to reach around to the back and struggle to find the start up button. Then you get no LED confirmation until you click on the LED

When I’ve used G-drives in the past, they always start up automatically when you boot your computer connected by USB C.
