Safepoint failed to finish & hung the MyCloud

last night’s Safepoint update failed to finish and the MyCloud was so slow this morning that I had to power off reset it to get back online. The Safepoints were usually running 15 to 30 minutes, but this one was still doing something after 6 hours and the Dashboard was unresponsive!

I have decided to stop using Safepoint for my backups. The MyCloud itself has been operating very well over the past few weeks and if the Safepoint is my weakest link, then I’ll simply stop using it.

I’m going to add the MyCloud to my MIRROR (backup) instead using the same external drive as the mirror.

Which firmware revision are you currently using? Have you tried with a static IP address across Safepoint devices (Target and source)?

I’m on the latest firmware and I have fixed assignments for the IP (reserved IP via DHCP). This was a clear software failure in the WDMyCloud. One other strange issue that appeared that morning was that the time shown for the Safepoint update (notifications) which failed was totally wrong The date and time shown in the Settings-General TAB was correct (see picture).

After the removal of the external USB drive the WDMyCloud hung the following night and I had to do a power-off reset (I hate doing that to a device).

Once the MyCloud rebooted, I noticed that I had not reset the [USB Content availability] to OFF. I wonder if that was an issue?
