Removing hard disk from My Book LIve enclosure

I took delivery of the MyBook Live 3 days ago. It was working fine for the first 2 days. On the third day it won’t start up and it’s now stuck on the blue light. The reliability of this product is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve decided to trash the drive and want to recover data from it. I don’t want to RMA it because I’m not interested in getting another My Book Live as the failure rate is very high and I’m tired [Deleted] around with the network shares. I just want an external drive that works reliably and doesnt crash within the first week of owning it.

What I want to know is how can I dismantle the hard drive from its enclosure, rescue the data that’s been transferred over to it. Is it possible to mount the drive on an external enclosure and extract the data using Ubuntu. This is one of the worst products I’ve ever owned.

For dismantling instructions try either:

www.google.com

or

http://www.youtube.com/

Linux will read the EXT3 file system of the MBL’s internal drive.
