Recovery ISO

I am not able to find the Recovery ISO anywhere under the downloads and support site for a DX400 ? Anybody point me in the right direction. Thanks

I think with this, best contact WD support.

Hi, i got the same Problem, i Need the recovery iso, where can i find it?

I will try pinging WD again. So far it is just falling on deaf ears

I also need the latest recovery ISO, and it’s nowhere to be found on their site.
Over the past year they’ve buried and removed information about the Sentinel line.

We’re looking into replacing our 3 DX4000s which are 4 years old (with one starting to suffer drive failures). WD doesn’t sell replacement drives. There’s no support for the 4000 series. I understand that it’s old, but there’s absolutely no reason to remove the ISO download link, the recover guide, and the product specs/features page. These things can still be found for sale.

The DS5100 and the DS6100 also have no support and no accessory availability (just try finding a compatible drive, the boot drive kit, or the official power adapter). We were looking to upgrade to a cheaper DS set (no separate RAID 1 boot drives, single power supply, etc.) and add on the boot kit, but nothing is available anywhere. Again, these things can still be found for sale, but what you get in the box is all you’ll ever get. No spare drives, no accessories, no support, etc.

I’ve asked WD multiple times if they’re prepping for the release of a new model to coincide with the release of Windows Server 2016, but they refuse to confirm whether or not a new model is coming and they still claim that the existing models are not end-of-life.

If I knew a new line of Sentinels was coming soon, we’d probably wait and spend thousands on them and extra drives for them.

But since WD refuses to communicate, and continues to bury and remove information about current products, our money is going elsewhere.

I agree I think WD will not have any more Windows boxes. If you just need client backups, storage, and or remote access I would look at the Thecus “w” units. 2000, 4000, 5000 Dirt cheap. Of course they will be obsolete as well in spring/ whenever 2016 ships. If you need to run a Line of Business program on the server I suppose there is the HP Microserver and get the Windows Essentials SKU.

You could use your drive investment in either of the above.

I am having the same problem, I need the recovery image but cannot find it for download anywhere.

Thanks WD… not

You should be able to contact WD and get it.

I’m currently downloading the ISO from here Download WD Sentinel DX4000 Server Recovery ISO 1.05.14.18 for Windows XP/Vista/7/8 x86/x64
but still need to verify its usage.
Hope it helps.

You need to compare the hash file to make sure it is a good download

I asked support about WD Sentinel DX4000 recovery image. They sent me these links.

Note!!! They are EMEA files since I live in EU and contacted them with my registered serial number provided.
If you need other than EMEA, try replacing letters “EMEA” in the link with “APAC” or “PANAM”. I did not try if it works, but it’s worth trying.

Latest → ftp://download:Western11@ftp.eu.wdc.com/Tech%20Support%20Download/EMEA_SvrRecovery_1_7_6_21.iso

Not latest →
http://download.wdc.com/sentinel/EMEA_SvrRecovery_1_7_5_17.iso

propably the first link does not work with changed letters since the link contains this part “@frp.eu.wdc.com”. It is propably just for EMEA files.

did they provide you with a hash file to verify the download?

nope :frowning:

though I am not too freightened about hash files since my server is just for personal use (if it is trashed I lose just a server, and I do have backups) . Allthough I understand that the ones who use this server in business means are worried about the hashes.

Just realized that you should be able to verify that older “not latest”-file through this link which was provided earlier in this topic

at least the file version matches…

I see that it was actually you who provided that link

I asked support for hash files. Let’s see if it was too much to ask

They sent me this link when I asked for hash.

It depends what version you have installed. We have the hash files for the 1.7.5.17

Hate to bump an old conversation, but it just helped me save a ton of data for a new client.

@Gramps nice work using the wayback machine to pull the old link.

Important to note for the next person… the web archive link is incomplete. it only downloads 2GB of the 9.5GB file. You need to reduce it down to the original link contained within.

This worked for me: http://download.wdc.com/sentinel/PANAM_SvrRecovery_1_7_5_17.iso

The checksums did not match up for me, but the software installed and the files were recovered. Thanks everyone :+1:

So I learned how to find the link in chrome. Something new everyday! thanks @playinitcool
Glad you got a new customer going though I think you should go buy a Lotto ticket if the checksum did not match LOL

Does anyone have the iso for the DX 4200? is it the same one?

I contacted support 5 hours ago and they said they would send me an email with it. I called back one hour ago and they said 15 minutes. This is absurd. I am a consultant and my client has not had a backup for several days. What is so hard about sending an email with a link in it? For the matter of fact what is so hard about just making it available on your website so I don’t have to call support? Not only is it wasting my time but it is wasting WD tech support time as well because I could have just followed the instructions from the knowledge base if it was in there. It seems like WD is thinking like a company that supplies home use products and not a company that wants to compete in enterprise class products.
