Pulsing Blue LED & Cannot Connect to Drive?

Hi, I have had errors returned by my syncing software. I checked my 2TB MyCloud and noticed that the LED on the front is now pulsing. Also when I try to connect to the drive I recieve the following mssage:

There was a problem connecting to the server “???.???.?.??”.

Contact your system administrator for more information.

Also when I click on the MyCloud Dashboard it also cannot connect to the drive. Could someone please explain to me what might have happened to the drive and how I might be able to remedy this situation?

Thanks.

did you set a static IP? or DHCP?

if DHCP how are you determing the IP? sign into your router to check. set a static IP once you get in

Hi Larry,

Thanks for your reply. I’m not very fluent with network set up. I simply set it up via the set up guide that came with the drive and it was working fine for about a week and a half. Then all of a sudden my syncing software (ChronoSync) shows errors as it cannot access the drive thus fails to sync and the “WD MyCloud Dashboard” app will not load anything, just a blank page in my browser with the ip address in the address bar.

I have found the DHCP area in my router settings. Currently DHCP is in use. When I uncheck the box to disable it and click apply it gives the following:

Warning

Changing the subnet of the IP address will clear any DHCP reservations that have been entered. Are you sure you wish to continue?

Could or would this cause an issue with my families other devices that are connected via my router?

Why is my router by default set to use DHCP if it would be ok to turn it off?

you don’t want to disablr DHCP in the router. You need to go into the router to determin the current address of the mycloud

then try connecting with this address

somtimes windows home networks don’t like resolving names so IP is generally more reliable, setting a static IP address outside of the DHCP pool will allow you to always use the same address

Thanks again for your reply Larry. I am on a Mac but will try your suggestion.
