PR4100 displays welcome to wd my cloud pr4100 and flashing blue light after latest firmware update

Have not updated to new OS. Was prompted there was a new firmware update and started the install. Now the unit is stuck with the display as listed in the title of this email with a flashing blue light. The drives all have solid blue lights. If I try to shut it down with the power key, pushing the button drops it immediately without delay. Pushing the power key to start it up brings it right back to this screen. Have tried holding down the reset button for 4 seconds and then power on without success. Have unplugged power supply and replugged it in without success. Have tried the unplug with soft reset without success.

Thanks
Bruce

just trying to set one up today - if you wait long enough - the power and all the drive lights go red, and it allows you to login… shows I have no array configured, and won’t let me update the firmware… but I can poke around on the settings, if I’m patient enough

Fun times!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that is the normal routine. After 1 3/4 hours chatting with tech support yesterday and going through the usual entry level stuff following their script, I got escalated to a level 2 tech. For the last 10 minutes of my chat with him, he said I’m in the wait mode. The level 2 said the unit is performing a reindexing and that could take 24 to 48 hours. I just passed the 27 hour mark and it is still going. He also said the unit may need to index itself after any restart, or firmware upgrade. The fact that it hasn’t done it before is irrelevant. I’m hoping he is correct and the unit was not bricked during the firmware update. If it is still in the same condition after 48 hours I’m to reconnect with support to discuss further. Hoping to do other things on Monday than chat with tech support again.
Stay safe.

I haven’t even made an array yet… told it to use all four drives in RAID-5 and it rebooted, but it’s still showing no array. It’s a standard Linux mdadm ver 0.90 array (was RAID-1) - was able to see it when I pulled drive 3 and put it on my CentOS box… but this box is brand-new out of the box, and flaky as hell so far.

Good luck!
