Powering off WD My Cloud

I bought the product a few months ago and it has been running non-stop ever since.

I now noticed that the documentation recommends turning the power off when not in use.

But there is no ON/OFF switch.

So does WD recommend pulling out the power cable? Seems a little drastic to me.

Use the Dashboard and you will find the shutdown in “Settings” → “Utilities”. I am not on my network at the moment so I am going from memory. Hope that helps. :wink:

If you want to save any power, make sure you unplug the wall-wart after the shutdown, otherwise the WD My Cloud will still be using 5 watts of power according to my Kill-A-Watt.

Ok, so if you shutdown via dashboard, how do you start it?

I guess using the dashboard does a clean shutdown.
