I really need to be able to view photos easily when working remotely but on both the desktop app and the online service I only see an image of a camera (desktop) or mountain (online). I have to actually open / download the file before knowing what it is which is a painfully slow process.
I’ve just redownloaded the latest desktop app and it’s still the same.
Is there any way of getting thumbnails to show a thumbnail of the actual image?
Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.

No I wasn’t but it’s not as much of a concern for me soon as I will be relocating soon and hope to mostly use the drive on the local network…
I had the same issue, check if in the root of shared public folders (music / pictures / videos) not contains other folder, in my case I had a folder with flash animations .EXE type, I moved to another location and this solve the problem
