No sound

i am getting no sound on wd  media player any fix for or is it just my files

That depends…

Which media player?

How is it connected?

Is it set to “Stereo” or “Digital”

What container (file type) are you trying to play?

What type of sound is in the file (AC3, DTS, AAC, MP3)?

If it’s .mkv, is compression enabled in the headers of the audio track?

thanks for the fast replay i got  WD TV HD Media Player (Gen 2)  hdmi connection

mkv contanier   mkv contanier and the sound i think dts hd

DTS HD isn’t supported (WD says DTS won’t give them a licence).  The Gen2 should be able to pass the 5.1 core out of the 7.1 DTS MA track, to your receiver, though.

My first suspect would be the file.  I’d guess it was created with mkvmerge v4.1.x and the audio track has compression turned on.

Try to re-mux the file and see if the new file works any better.

Either use a version of mkvmerge that pre-dates the compression being enabled by default (4.0.x or earlier), or use the newest versions (4.1.x or newer) and for _ each _ audio and video track in the .mkv click on “Extra Options” and select “Compression → None”.

thanks you very much

thanks roofingguy
