Hello,
I’ve had my WD Live Hub for a few months now and everything has worked fine until today.
Our Netgear WPN824 router went on the fritz so I replaced it with a Netgear N300. But now the WB Live Hub wont connect to the router. I try the automatic network setup and it says"Unable to obtain an IP address". If I assign the address manuall it takes the address and shows up in the router but cannot connect to the internet.
Once I enter the IP manually, if I check the connections it shows a check for IP but Xs for DNS and Internet Connection.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Also, if I connect directly to a laptop it will connect and share folder properly.
Sounds like you didn’t set the DHCP function up correctly on the new router.
I didn’t change any settings from default out of the box.
For DHCP the only option I have is a check box to turn it on and I can set a range of numbers.
right now it’s set to ON with the range from 192.168.1.2 - 192-168.1.254
My laptops network fine with the router. Just the WD TV Live hub has a problem.
I have the same router and the same problem. I just bought the Live Hub and my adaptor can very well see the network but it can not connect. Also, I removed the security and Live Hub still thinks security is on (yes its the proper home network),
When I try connecting with security removed, it does not request a password but cannot automaticly set the ip address, gateway and such.
Is it possible the router is not supported? It seems crazy in our day and age you would need to have a router in a supported list. Yes I understand the usb wireless dungle …but the router???
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Edit: I too have a wireless laptop and I was able to connect to my router in half a second… the live hub on the other hand is still in the living room having a midlife crisis…

It’s NOT a “SUPPORTED LIST.”
As the KBA says, “The following devices have been tested and are known to be compatible.” It’s not an exclusive list.
Yes I understand that, but it still seems strange it takes so much work just to configure it to access the internal network. Most devices like Ipods, ps3, laptops seem to connect without a hassle. This is the first time I am struggling just to get on my own network.
If automatic configuration does not appear to be working on my end, is there an easy way to get all the proper information for the live hub? I tried configuring a few addresses but I end up not being able to connect in the end…
thanks
