cool… I’ll just power cycle the wretched box for the millionth time and then install this update. I notice the live streams taking nigh on a minute to start and the iplayer issues haven’t been resolved in the release notes. Great.
I am not able to install the new firmware direct on the wd tv live smp.
Here is what happens. After i select install, it will say Downloading the firmware. At 94% it changes the screen to 0% and try to restart the download after few moments screen displays New Firmware download failed due to network connection Error and please check my connection. I tried restaring my router and tried installing again. same issue. stuck at 94% and failed.

Hurrah!
After getting to love the older WD TV Live model, I was absolutely gutted when I hooked up my new SMP and found a bunch of my videos were effectively unwatchable.
The SMP was about to get returned as defective… but seeing this, I’ll give it another chance. Thanks WD!
Update: Sadly, after trying it out, this update has not fixed my stuttering problem with certain M4Vs I produced with Handbrake. I’ll raise a bug.
I seem to be having the same problem with it erroring out on the firmware download at 94% I tried putting the firmware on my USB HDD but I don’t see an option to make it update locally, just via the internet. Has anybody else figured this out?
Also when attempting the download via the internet and I select “What’s in this update” it shows a blank screen, tries to load the release notes and reboots.
After trying for a while it finally went through, I guess they had too much load on their update server.

I believe this is only for .MKVs made in HB 0.9.6, they should have added that bit.

I had this happen on one of my boxes, not the other. just keep trying, it eventually worked.
if you want to download it to a pen drive heres the link for the FW:

Updated to firmware 1.10.13 from 1.09.10. Noticed that .mpg files would start a little slow…play for about a second or 2…then freeze…then restart from the beginning and then play OK. This only occurs over the wireless network file sharing and not when playing files on a local drive. Reverted back to 1.09.10 and all is OK now. Looking at the release notes, none of my problems are fixed…will only upgrade if I see they have done something about the time skip problem in videos and audio files…I’m not holding my breath. Here is an example of a file that won’t play…however it seems that all of the mpgs I played, of all different types, had the problem.
