I upgraded my WD TV live SMP to 1.08.17 and no change, the problem with rear USB port still remains.
When this bug will be fixed?

Everything was working great until I did this update.
The player will not even find my shared computers on my network now. Have reset everything multiple times.
Is there some way to roll back the firmware on the player?
Try clearing media library
Done that, cleared everything, even did a ‘factory reset’.
When I choose media-select content source, I go network shares, windows shares and that’s as far as it goes. It doesn’t find any content sources. Have reset my network PC also.
All I wanted to do was watch Game of Thrones before sleep. Why oh why did I do this update…
How to roll back the firmware

it is more likely a hardware issue. no firmware update with ever fit it.
the only difference between SMP’s with model ending in -00 & -01 seem to be the port.
since most people who have a -00 SMP don’t have this issue and are likely up to date on FW it looks like a faulty USB port.
Thanks for that oldman777.
Did the rollback but still no joy… Aaargh. I’ve only had this thing for a week, took me a whole day to figure out why the wireless wouldn’t work. Now this. It’ll be something so simple I’m sure…

Yesterday, send an email to WD support.
I’ll wait for a response.
Like I said… something simple. I reset the system. Forgot to check the workgroup name. D’UH.
Don’t know if this was the problem with the 1.08.17 update but it’s working now with 1.07.18 so, if it ain’t broke…
Thanks for the help oldman777
Where can we find the source for default Mochi theme for this firmware version?
I downloaded the GPL source code for this FW version and it’s not there.
This player is advertised with customizable themes, I would like to customize the default theme.
Playing DVD folders through WiFi still seems broken hp9000, at least that’s what I experienced with this latest firmware. Some bug having to do with using more than required bandwidth to transmit this type of file and producing a lot of extra network traffic.
I might also add that I usually get between 2-3 bars for signal and have no problems playing HDX files from Vudu, so it definitly seems something is broken in streaming DVD folders.

That’s an apples / oranges comparison.
According to Vudu, HDX runs at as little as 4.5 megabits per second of bandwidth.
DVDs require up to 10 (up to 12 when including raw transfer bandwidth / overhead of container, etc.)
… so in other words, DVDs can require 3x the bandwidth of Vudu HDX.
@Mr-Wolf
Here it is:

This is a great modification to check also, if you compare them you get good ideas:
Check also the Hub community here, they have a theme section and it will help you change things much quicker, the url is:

Thanks for that upload on the mochi default theme, Im just curious, is that extracted from this 1.08 firmware or it’s a few versions back?
Issue: I still seem to have the issue with the SMP rebooting when I browse folder with around 350 video files in it. (Mostly MKV files in the folder)
The updated services menu looks ripe for the addition of a slew of new services and an apps section.
Agree with Mr-Wolf about the annoying ‘black’/empty Youtube video preview icons - that’s a bit annoying TBH. After playing one vid, every single preview icon is black, including in ‘related videos’, favourites and playlists. Anyone got a workaround or fix for this new bugette? (actually I’m not that worried about this as my Sony Bravia has a better YouTube implementation than the WD one - like when you press Pause to look at a scene, it shows the whole screen, not dimmed out with the ‘related videos’ preview string across the bottom!).
However, to press, the Netflix re-registration issue appears to have been resolved.
Thanks for your help mate, but is that default mochi theme from 1.08.17 firmware?
This player is advertised with customizable themes, I would like to customize the default theme.
Where can we download the default mochi theme from the last firmware ?
Updated this morning and returned my unit this afternoon. After 6 months of waiting for a fix for dvd folder playback i’ve finally given up. The unit is clearly capable of playing video_ts folders (individual files play perfectly through media servers) there just isn’t any will or effort put in to fixing the problem with windows shares playback. I’ll stick with my live hub and stream to atv2 for dvd playback. Waaste of time and effort reporting here. Good luck guys.
since updating to 1.08.17 if i have ‘match video framerate’ set to ‘on’ the device reboots as soon as i try to play a iso
In the meta data for tv-shows, “First Aired” in Swedish is shown as “Första torkade”, and that means “First Dried”.
I thought the poor language errors was fixed…
