New Firmware Malfunction 9-26-12

I have a WDTV Live.  After updating recent firmware, I got the Spinning Circle of Death.  I tried power cycling it many times to no avail.  Then I tried resetting it, and now I get a gray, garbled screen with diagonal and horizontal lines.  It’s pretty much unusable, except maybe to navigate the menu.  As far as the the info you want included:

Which Firmware - I can’t say as I can barely read anything on the screen, but I do know it’s the most recent update of the last few days.  I’m fairly sure the firmware it had before was 1.06.15_V

What happened - explained above

What were you doing - upgrading firmware, explained above

Does this happen every time? - ah, yes

What hardware and media were you using? - Older Sharp CRT 27", using the composite cables hooked to verizon router.

Did this happen with previous firmware?  No

Does power cycling the unit solve this?   No

Does resetting to factory defaults solve this?  No, but it changed it.  See above.

Have you tried this on other devices?  Other WDTV devices?  Are you kidding?  I only have one working unit left in the house and I would be crazy to risk ruining it also.

WD have acknowledged that there is a problem and they have removed the firmware update while they are working on it.

You can always rollback to the previous firmware by downloading the official WD rollback firmware from the page below. Follow all the instructions and you should be back to your old setup in minutes.
