Network/User/Password

Is there any way possible to access the MyCloud via the Windows Explorer when the shares aren’t “Public” using username and password or is it then only possible to access them via the desktop/mobile app?

Sure.

Liondad,

I think it is best to read the manual on how to set it up here http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?wdc_lang=en&fid=wdsfMyCloud

Good luck.

You didn’t give any details so not sure the issue. always connect as a non-public user 1st and all active connections must be as a single user

This adds to another reply here and should answer your question. See the User Manual, P.58, Accessing the Contents of a Share Locally.

Thanks for all replies!!

The problem for me is that when I try to enter username and password to access the private share, I’m denied…
Tried multiple users, but no… Tried different passwords, but no…
I’ve even tried to set the device name as “Domain” like WDMyCloud"username"… didn’t work :frowning:

Any ideas for what I’m doing wrong?

In the user guide it tells you how to create shares  (Public/private and how to setup username and password for each user that you want him/her have access)  on the cloud itself.

Connect to the dashboard (in browser type the ip address of yoru cloud) and start creating shares and users.

When connected first time from windows to a private share it will ask for username/passord and it will then store them for that user on that machine that you used. Yuo can clear the remembered usernames and passwords by goign to control panel and then find credential manager and clear the what is there. This allow you to start over if you messed up logins.

This why I said read the user guide first. You have to understand the dashboard first and then you can start cnnecting from different PCs with different usernames and password. (Obviuosuly Public is Public for all to see).
