Shares and Users query

Hello, I have a WDMyCloud and it is all set up with pretty much everything under the PUBLIC folder.
I now don’t want this to be the case so I created a share called “Documents” and gave the admin user full read and write rights. When I go into my Windows 10 PC (which is on the LAN) I can see WDMYCLOUD and my PUBLIC and DOCUMENTS folders. I can access PUBLIC but the DOCUMENTS folder asks me for a username and password. So far I can see that this is correct as it’s now a private folder. However, when Ii type in admin and then my password it says;

mycloud is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.

Clearly I am doing something wrong. Do I need to create a user other than admin here. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks in advance.
Craig

this is a limitation from windows. You cannot have mixed credentials for active shares.

Eg, you cannot be logged in as [guest] on the public share, while also being logged in as [admin] on the documents share. You need to be logged in as [admin] for both.

Unmount and unmap any shares you have to the mycloud, then try connecting again with the [admin] user.

Thanks ‘Wierd_w’ I had a mapped drive which I couldn’t disconnect from as it said it did not exist, so I Googled how to unmap a drive. I did it in the end through the cmd prompt. I then went to map network drive as you said and it worked. Thanks again!
