MyCloud EX2 Ultra OS 5 - problems with media files and TV

Hi there,

I own a WD EX2 Ultra and I finnaly bought a TV and connected it on my wireless network. My WD is updated to the latest version.
I installed Twonky and went to the settings but i did not see any media files within:
Version: Twonky Server 8.5.1-1
Videos: 0 Songs: 0 Photos: 0 Audiobook files: 0

So then I installed Plex. Went on the setting and could not even find a way to connect my plex account with my WD - I went in my media in Plex and it just says “Get your media server”.

I have no idea how to stream/watch videos and photos on my TV from my WD EX2 Ultra.

They are all on the same network, the TV is a Sony model from this year and my WD is updated.

I read a number of different forum posts but I literally have no more idea what I can do to watch stuff from my WD on my TV.

Does anybody have any idea, what I can do?

I take it the Sony is a smart TV with android? In which case download Kodi from the play store (vanilla kodi is perfectly safe and is just a really good media viewer) and in Kodi settings/setup just map your media drive though SMB (or DNLA or NFS, they all worked on mine) and you can just play directly off the network, no plex or twonky or anything else needed.

From reading about OS5 (im too scared to update yet but I read here daily) you may have to change the SMB status in EX settings. Pro Tip: Use Button Mapper to map a kodi button to your remote once set up.

That means Twonky hasn’t scanned anything.
Check the folder and media type under Twonky Settings.
