I have recently bought a WD passport ultra 2TB, to use with my DELL Inspiron 15, running windows 10. I have already spoken to WD support who advised to download the latest backup sorftware from the WD site, which I did.
However, the problem still persists. As soon as I instigate a back up, I get a message within 2 to 3 seconds that says that it has been unable to download certain files and the whole process stops. I can drag and drop ok, but I want the schedule to do it automatically. Anyone any ideas.?

Just WD backup on the WD support site.
Download the WD Smartware that software will allow you to set a schedule for backups and it should work with your drive.
