Hi There, I am not sure if anyone has experienced this or has resolved the issue I am experiencing with My Home Cloud. I have a 6TB Storage and I have only used 1.3TB. I have 2 users, myself and my wife, on the My Home Cloud. I do not know how to resolve this.
Is this the device you own, My Cloud Home?
Hi
Yes the device is called “My Home Cloud”.
By you or WD? How long have you owned it? Their list of products does not show a device by that name.
High-Capacity HDDs for PCs, NAS, Gaming, Data Centers, and AI Data Cycles | WD
Hi there. Thank you for the response. The Model is a WD. It is the WDBVXC0060HWT model.
I tried searching for troubleshooting but to no avail. I’m really hoping I can resolve this issue.
Thank you so much for assisting me.
If the issue is that Windows is showing the My Cloud as nearly full despite only 1.3 TB being used, check the Recycle Bin and deleted files in both My Cloud user accounts first. My Cloud Home can retain deleted data and that space may not be obvious from the normal folder view. Also check whether your wife’s account has its own deleted files or backup data. I would not run Clear Device Settings or recovery software yet since the files are still accessible. If Windows itself is reporting the wrong capacity rather than the My Cloud dashboard, that points more toward a Windows network mapping issue than actual storage usage.
Hi there,
I don’t see a recycle bin in the “My Home Cloud”, either on my phone app not on Windows sign in to My Home Cloud login, nor can I see a folder that stores deleted data. We actually did not delete much off the hard drive (about 2GB deleted). This has been so puzzling. So on the dash in the login either on app or login through online browser under settings and in our profile it shows how much we both used for example, my wife used 1TB out of 6TB and under the 2nd user which is, have used 300GB of of 6TB however on the main dashboard it says 0 space available and so our backups dont Sync to the device.
I am still waiting for WD to respond what the issue is. But I am happy to have help and will try resolve this. I appreciate it.
You can check that isn’t mentioned is whether the 6TB figure is being compared with the actual usable capacity. A 6TB My Cloud Home only has about 5.26TB available after formatting and the device’s operating system, so the advertised 6TB is not all user storage. If the device is actually reporting that only around 1.3TB is available, rather than 1.3TB being used, then that is a different issue and check the device’s storage status from the My Cloud Home web interface before resetting anything. Also, don’t run a factory reset or recovery software unless the data itself is missing.
