My Cloud Home - Inquiry

Hi,

I was having WD mycloud; which supported me for have media streaming and establishing file sharing between devices at home (with option of disable remote connection from internet). Also I was able to use the same from Linux machines through SAMBA SMB.

I have recently got my cloud home. But noted that I need to create users based on Email, that mandate internet connections. Not able to find facility to disable remove remote access.

Moreover, I have noted that I can not connect to my cloud home from windows unless I install WD discovery application. Also I cannot access from browser to configure.I see only it is supported by Windows and Linux.

I need to use it on multiple locations and those may not have internet connection.

Am I missing some details about the product?

Regards,

The My Cloud home device requires an internet connection.

WD Discovery will mount the private user space as a drive. This is only supported on Windows and Mac.

For linux you can access using a web browser. Go to mycloud.com and select the Sign in to My Cloud home on the left. Sign in using your account and you can access the my cloud home via a web browser.

There is also a public SMB share. this is used for windows file history and time machine. You could mount the default public share as well but this share would not see anything that is stored in the private user space.
