I recently bought a 8 TB My Cloud drive. I have set it up, installed all the applications apart from one. The ‘mc_windows_setup.exe’ gets as far as trying to detect the device, but fails to do so. I can verify that the device is working, as I’m able to upload files to the drive using the WD My Cloud sync application. Any ideas about how to solve this issue?

Use the Dashboard to set the device up:
Find the IP address assigned to you device (using your router), and enter the IP address, followed by /UI into a web browser. e.g.
192.168.1.32/UI
This is the ‘mobile devices’ setup method shown in the ‘Quick Start Guide’ card that came in the box.
Hmmmm if you’ve already set it up, and it’s working, you don’t need to run that program.
You don’t need any WD software to use the MyCloud. You can map the device into your computer’s file system, and use it like any hard disk. You can use the WD backup and Sync programs if you wish, but there are better, and free third party programs available.
I recommend downloading and reading the my cloud user manual.
