MY CLOUD(2TB) DOESNOT RECOGNISE SAFEPOINT for updation!

I had made a safepoint on USB External hard disk (WD Elements 2TB) directly connected to My cloud.
But recently My cloud will not recognise the safepoint anymore. As a result I cannot update it anymore.
But when I try to recover from safepoint, it able to recognise it.

So in short MY Cloud doesn’t recognise safepoint for updation but it does so for recovering.

One final solution that comes to my mind is to format external HDD and create new safepoint?

But I would prefer a better solution. Please Guide

If you search this subforum you’ll see there are numerous threads on Safepoint backups on external USB hard drives disappearing after updating to the V04.04.02-105 firmware. The issue is caused by the the My Cloud changing the Share name for the external USB hard drive and appending numbers to it ("_2", “_3”, “_4”, etc.) every time it is booted by the My Cloud firmware.

As the first link below indicates the workaround appears to be making note of the old Share entry for the external USB device. Then removing the old Share entry for the external USB device and renaming the new Share entry that has a “_2” (or other number) to the old Share entry name for the external USB device.
