I purchased a 2TB My Cloud just before Christmas and have had it setup and running without any real issues. But just in the last 3 days or so I have been noticing a lot of issues with logging into Playstation Network and more annoyingly, Netflix keeps buffering every 1min or so. Simple troubleshooting steps, I disconnected all devices from my router, reset my router, etc… and no change. Finally, I disconnected the My Cloud and voila, no more buffering issues. As soon as I plugged it back into the router, Netflix started buffering again. I don’t expect this to be normal behaviour, any ideas on how to fix this?
I found this post that relates to this. it was a DNS setting but the OP didn’t provide many details, you could try send them a message if you don’t find any DNS issues
what speed local network? what Internet upload an download speed?
anyone using the mycloud during this time? Locally or remotely?
what are the lights on the back of the mycloud doing?
do you have a static IP set on the MYcloud? have you done any manual port settings on the router or mycloud?
try searching, there have been a few reports of this before but i don’t recall the details
download = 18 Mbps and upload = 1mbps
Lghts on the back - one constantly on the other blinks almost continously.
No static IP set. Router has some port settings for PSN.
I’ll have a bit of a look for more info on the site. I did do a factory reset on my router and TV, so far (10mins) no buffering. Will keep an eye on it.
Well, buffering issues are still ongoing. Only way to fix it at the moment is to unplug the Mycloud from the network. Admittedly a little disappointed at this time.
I also have the same (or even worse) problem. I purchased the WD MyCloud 3TB a week ago and since it’s been connected to router it is causing problems with accessing the internet – the internet access works for few seconds, then is gone for few seconds then comes back – and all over again.
Some info:
I have a Linksys WRT 54-GL (100Mbit/s) as a main house router, connected directly to modem. It has a DD-WRT installed and hosts up to 20 devices (Wireless and LAN). It also has another WRT 54-GL connected in a function as a switch.
When I connect MyCloud to the main router, it connects successfully (it gets IP, I’ve also set up home sharing on multiple computers and platforms and it works perfectly) and it also works; LAN works at all times, but WAN breaks and comes back continuously – router (Linksys) is on, then the power LED starts to blink and the SES (SecureEasySetup) light goes out. The power LED blinks (but not rapidly, rather slowly – cca 1-2 times a second) and then the router works normally again. The process starts again in few seconds – and as it does, the internet access goes out and comes back.
I tried many things:
Reseting MyCloud – no good
Reseting the router (unplugged for 30 seconds – DHCP reset) – no good
Updated firmware on MyCloud – no good
Updated firmware (the latest DD-WRT) on Linksys – no good
Set a static IP for the MyCloud (out of router DHCP range) – no good
Changed network settings in MyCloud from auto to manual – no good
Turned off Cloud sharing – no good
Obviously, the WRT 54-GL doesn’t like MyCloud (or/and vice-versa), but neither do I like this situation. I checked on router status (CPU, RAM, …) and it doesn’t show any problems – CPU load is almost unchanged, the same with RAM.
I currently have MyCloud disconnected from home network and the latter works perfectly (as it has been for five or six years). But – normally – I’ve bought the MyCloud – as many of us have – for sharing family pictures, videos, documents … on home network with all users. And this now dissapoints me … I haven’t found any real advice on this, though having searched for it for some time.
Have any of you encountered similar problems? Any help would be very encouraging!
No, no remote devices are connected to MyCloud – as soon as I connect MyCloud to local network, the router begins to reset – so no remote devices are connected.
Yes, the blinking power LED means the router is resetting – but it is only resetting as long as MyCloud is connected to it. When it is disconnected, the router (and the whole network) functions normally …
I just tried to connect My Cloud for first time and every time I plug it into my D-Link DSL 2890AL, my ADSL internet drops out. If I unplug the ethernet cable, internet pops back on after a few minutes.
