Hi,
My Book Live shown blinking blue and yellow light. I called WD Helpdesk and gone through various trouble shooting steps but no help. They said there is nothing they can do further but I can still recover my data. They suggested to take HDD out and attach to laptop with SATA to USB converter.
I tried same I bought SATA to uSB and attached to my MacBook and PC both but neither of them able to read the drive. Am I missing something here? Is the FS format is different on HDD which cannot be read by MacBook and PC.
Could you please help me to recover my data please.
Thanks
Jit
Does it even recognize the fact there’s a drive there?
Or is the drive not even showing in disk manager?
If the latter, it’s probably because your USB interface isn’t powering the drive. Most USB to SATA interfaces are only intended for 2.5" mobile drives, not 3.5" drives.
But if you’re saying the drive is visible and you just can’t access the data, it’s because the datavolume is and EXT4 partition which neither PCs nor MACs can read natively.
Use the search function at the top of the screen; there’s TONS of threads about how to read those partitions.
My machines recognise the drive but not able to read it.
I will search as you suggested but if there is any specific link you can shar that willl be really appreciated.
