Hi All, I noticed that this query has been asked often but my question has a different spin.
I dragged and dropped several MP4 video files form my PC onto a folder that I created in My Cloud. I can view these videos with a Android phone with no issues, However, when I go to view the videos in the folder that I created in My Cloud, I get a window asking if I want to save it or open it. When I press open, it downloads it again before I can view it. depending on the size of the file, this can take several minutes. I would like to be able to click on the MP4 file and view it similar to opening a photo file or music file in My Cloud. Can someone please point me in the right direction.
No problems using a file manager like ES File Explorer on my Android devices and opening up the MP4 files so they are played in the MX Player app. For DLNA on Android I use BubblePnP which accesses the My Cloud DLNA media server and opens the files into MX Player.
The WD My Cloud only supports certain types of codecs based on the extension of your file, such as MPEG2/4, H.264, and WMV9, support up to 1920x1080p 24fps, 1920x1080i 30fps, 1280x720p 60fps resolution. However, it is well known that MP4 is a multimedia container file format, it might contain WD My Cloud unsupported video codec such as H.265/HEVC, VP8, VP9, etc.
