Make Cloud device visible on Local network for all to see

How can I open my WDBCTL0020HWT-10 to my local network. Wide open! So it shows up as as a local network drive and shows up on smart TV’s etc. At one time years ago it was like that but now everything is locked down and complicated.

How are the smart TV and other devices that cannot see the My Cloud accessing the My Cloud? Using SMB or using something like DLNA media server (Twonky)?

First step if you want full access to everyone on the network to a My Cloud Share, set the Public setting to On.

If using DLNA then you will need to install the Twonky media server (or the Plex Media server and enable the Plex DLNA option in the Plex media server settings).

How to Install Third-Party Apps on My Cloud OS 5

Note: Depending on the network client device one may have to set SMB to SMBv1 in the Dashboard > Settings > Network section if it is set to exclude SMBv1 if those client devices don’t support SMBv2 or SMB3.
