macOS/Time Machine: unreliable backups with My Cloud Home Duo

Hi,

I use My Cloud Home Duo first and foremost for Time Machine backups.

I have already been disappointed by the fact that it does not support Time Machine over SMB. The knowledge base article that used to say it did support it has been updated since to state that it does not.

So Time Machine is happening over AFP.

I don’t know if this is correlated but, after 3 or 4 months of use, I already have to redo the backups of my two Macs because the backups had become corrupted.

Like most user I guess, I use Time Machine with a wifi connection. The My Cloud Home is directly plugged to a Gigabit Ethernet port on my Fiber gateway… Backups should be reliable and wireless Time Machine support is advertised as one of the major feature of My Cloud Home (See quotations below).

When is an update coming?

Auto backup for all PCs and Mac computers at home

The My Cloud Home device has enormous capacity and plugs into your network to wirelessly back up every computer at home to one central place. It works seamlessly with Windows Backup and Time Machine software.

Hi
Thanks for answering.
Will redo accordingly.
But My Cloud Home needs many improvements overall to meet the commercial discourse.

Best,
