Mac & Mycloud: No useful backup software?

Hi

Using a Mac and Mycloud 2TB, I’d like to remotely backup my files on my Mycloud from my iMac 10.11.6 El Capitan. I’m happy if it automatically syncs certain folders over Wifi. I’ve not the possibility to use UTP.

I tried all of the following to make backups:

• Time Machine: corrupts quickly over Wifi, stops syncing each time.
• WD software: most of it only for Windows (common WD!!), Smartware only for MYPassport Ultra (common WD!!)
• WD Sync: doesn’t do a good job at all: backup succeeded 10% (common WD!!)
• My Cloud dashboard does not feature app downloads (common WD!!)
• Regilio Sync does not support the standard WD Mycloud…

WD made no mention about terrible reliability over wifi! And it’s a fast one!

I’m completely unable to use this device now! So what can I do?

I am using windows BUT
I have added an external hd to the usb port on the mycloud 4tb ihave. the external HD is 5tb.
I have then on the HD created a safepoint within the dashboard, and set it to update every day at midnight. It is working very well on my mycloud system.

Have you looked at third party Mac backup programs if Apple’s embedded Time Machine isn’t working properly?

Here are two example programs that can be used to backup (or mirror) a Mac to an NAS device like the My Cloud.
