Locked out of MyCloud.com but I am on my device at home

I set my 2 TB WD Cloud up about a year ago. I set myself up as the server user and then my husband and kids as users. I logged in to WD online back then and remember using the online system as I set it all up. The online background was black back then (not sure what it is now). Anyway, I have not had the need to login from another place besides my home. At home, I see it as a drive like I see any other drives on my Mac (on the left in Finder and as a drive on my desktop when activated). So this week, I have needed to access my files away from home and I am using the same password I setup in the beginning. It gives me “The email address provided has not been registered with the MyCloud.com server.” So I finally gave in and reset my password. It still will not let me login with the reset password (which happens to be the same one I used to set it up in the first place). I get the same response. However, I can use that same password to access the files on my WD Cloud via the computer when i log in to it. I can disconnect from the MyCloud and reconnect. I even tried downloading the application to my computer, but i cannot get past the login in order to use that either. So what am I doing wrong? I haven’t done any updates to the drive itself like I’m reading have been issued. I’ve not been on message boards reading and staying connected because I’ve been working and using it as a normal drive i guess. But I’m pissed right now because I have spent a week reading message boards and watching videos on here showing me how to do exactly what I have already done - but it does not work… I remember this being frustrating to setup back a year ago, and I am a tech person.
Please someone help me… I pray it’s a simple fix I am overlooking.

Do you have a My Cloud or My Cloud Home? Your topic is under My Cloud Home. If you have a My Cloud have you tried files.mycloud.com ?

I have a My Cloud. When I purchased mine, there wasn’t any My Cloud Home products. So I have been going to the correct place. However, this am, I tried entering the same password yet again after a WD employee moved my post for me and it will magically let me log in now with the same password I have had since the beginning. However, after I log in online, it shows no devices available and says: please notify the device’s owner (or admin user). Well, I am not on the network currently where my My Cloud resides, which is why I need to log in to the website instead. And I am the owner and the admin. So, why can I see the device using this email and pw at home on another computer but not on this one and online anymore? I’m about to scream!

Officially, you cannot access the My Cloud Dashboard, the interface used to configure the My Cloud and reset remote access to the My Cloud, from a remote network location. My Cloud Dashboard access is generally only accessible to a computer on the same local network as the My Cloud.

Unofficially, there may be way’s to access the My Cloud Dashboard from remote location but those methods involve access to the My Cloud on the local network and or access to the network router the My Cloud is connected to in order to configure remote access. Methods include using SSH to access the My cloud and edit one or more firmware files to allow remote Dashboard access, to port forwarding within the network router and setting up a VPN server on the local network to VPN from a remote network location.

Typically the main reason to block remote access to the My Cloud Dashboard (or any network attached storage - NAS device like the My Cloud) is to prevent a hacker from gaining access to the interface that controls that NAS device.

Local access (Dashboard and file server) and remote access via files.mycloud.com use different usernames and passwords.

WD changed the remote access portal when they launched the MyCloud Home. Yeah, great idea… That’s why the portal is now at files.mycloud.com

I’d start with local access, and make sure you can connect to the Dashboard as your admin user. If you have forgotten the admin password, do a 4-second reset (paper clip in the little hole at the back). This will clear the admin password.

Once you’re back in the Dashboard, you can access the User page, and send yourself an email to register with the remote access service.
