7 days should be long enough. I don’t think you have any choice but to power it off and try one more time. In the meantime you could be downloading the recovery iso
If you did not have your data backed up and it does not start, you may want to look at some raid recovery software like
http://www.diskinternals.com/raid-recovery/ before doing the recovery
Thanks. I’ll try that. What are the steps?
The steps to do what?
After our conversation we found out that there was a problem with the fan. It did not work. We replaced it. Now server starts fine. No Loading os anymore please wait for days, and we got an ip address. The fan is working fine but I am again getting the message on the screen Fan failed like we got before. I also get the message online that the fan is failing and the temperature is getting high. After that we get the message that the server is restarted. We do not understand that. Is this error message still in the memory and do I have to do a hard reset to take it out f the memory because Im sure that the fan is working fine.
Go into the dashboard and select alerts
right clcik the fan error and delete
After I deleted it, it is generated again and again. It says: Fan not working, Resolve this alert Replace the fan. But we did replace the fan already and it is working fine because the temperature of server is staying the same. On the health monitor it says:
Fan Failed 164 RPM Unit is currently inactive or has failed.
Its like the server is not seeing the new one.
No clue then
Fan had same number of wires? plugged in the same place?
If temps are okay then select ignore the alert and see what happens
Dear Gramps,
It did have 2 wires in stead of 3. According to the itman it would not make any difference. It is connected on teh same place. Could not get the one with 3 wires.
Temps are constantely ok. Nevertheless the server restarts every 8 or 9 hours.
That is the difference. 2 wires just make it run. The third wire is the “sensor”. Gives feedback etc
If you ignore the alert does it stay “ignored”
restarts as in shuts down, restarts? Any useful messages in the event viewer?
Sorry but where do I find the event viewer again?
clcik start and type event
Dear Gramps
I do not see the event in the event viewer. I will let somebody else look for it. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. I just got a alert that in the meantime that I was looking for the event the server restarted but i did not even notice it. Strange.
Does the restart alert have a date and time in it? Is it just emailing you an old alert or is it restarting?
Gramps,
We could not find nothing in the event log. I dont know if it really restarted or that it was only the message, because I did not work on the server at those moments.
The alert Fan failed still comes back when I delete it because I think the new one is not recognised by the system. The server did not restart anymore after 24 hours. The temperature stays normal, so now I did ignore the alert so it won’t be bothering me on the screen of the server. In the meantime I will be looking for a new cooling fan with 3 wires if we can not fix the old one. I’m looking for the cooling fan Sonun Maglev ME92251V3-000U-G99 DC12V-1.3W , which is very hard to find. Do you know where I can get this one?
