I’ve tried everything I could think of, connecting to different port, going through device manager, nothing is working.
It is not showing up on my device manager. When I connect it I hear the passport making noises and I get a message on the right hand bottom corner of my laptop saying device successfuly installed but it is nowhere to be found.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Tara
Hello winglessbird, welcome to the WD Community. Have you checked if the Passport is recognized on the Disk management window? If it is you can try to assign a drive letter.
How to access Disk Management in Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 to manage hard drives
How to change the drive letter assignment in Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP or 2000
Hi there,
I’m running Windows 7 and yes I’ve checked the device manager through your link and it’s not there. However when I go control panel-hardware and sound-devices and printers I can see it there but it doesn’t open and when I double click on it it only shows me it’s properities.

Hi there,
My passport is recgonised in Device Manager and I’ve tried the changing/adding a letter to the drive but this has not worked. I’ve got as far as clicking on Device Management in the left hand pane as per the instructions but from there I have no option to change driver letter or path and no drive to click on.
Is there any other way from the Device Manger to make this passport work?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Tara
I don’t think you understood the instructions … you keep saying Device Manager, Device Management
You Should be using “Computer Management” “Disk Management” which are different
where you select the drive (left click) then right-click and the option to change the drive letter appears.
