Indexing Issue

Hi All,

I bought a 2x4TB [WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra - Black, 8TB] on Monday 15 March 2021. I’ve used less than 1TB of data transferred to it. It’s still indexing and I’m experiencing slow responses to the device, despite rebooting several times.

I’ve the following services active

  • Plex Server
  • USB to NAS
  • AntiVirus

I’m just getting concerned at the time its taking to index - 5 days at 22%

Is there anything I am doing wrong / or need to do?

Thanks
Mik - UK

It takes a few weeks to complete indexing. Be patient. Mine took 4 weeks. It depends on the number of files and the size of the files, as every byte is read.

I’d recommend uninstalling all apps (plex, USB antivirus) and restart to ensure you’re getting the full CPU and IO bandwidth as the indexer is intensive with both and its not very efficient - I expected the indexer to use all available IO and CPU if nothing else is running and no SMB or http requests are made - but doesn’t.

Thanks all. I’ve decided to return the device.
