I'm trying to map the recyle bin drive on my PC , but showing permissions error instead of admin privileges

Did it prompt you for credentials? If so, did you use the admin user?

If not, do you already have mapped drives to other shares and did you use credentials that are NOT admin?

In the map network drive dialog, check the “Connect using different credentials” and enter the admin user and admin passsword.

I have tried this , but nothing happened .

You need to be more detailed in your answer. You tried what exactly?

Did it prompt for credentials? Did you use the admin user/password?

Do you have other mapped drives? Did you connect using the IP Address? Did you use your username or the admin user?

Can you log onto the admin web page?

What OS are you running on your PC? Be specific like Windows 11 Home - 24H2 or whatever your PC has.

Have you deleted files you are trying to recover?

How long has this issue been happening? Did you just setup the recycle bin? Once setup, the recycle bin will not appear unless there’s some thing in it.

Yes, I have logged in with admin rights after that login prompt,

I have other mapped drives on this cloud already and try this with different credentials and also on a new user profile where I don’t have any mapped drive.

Yes I can login with admin page and have full access on cloud.

I’m using win 11 Pro Edition Version 23H2

I have deteled few files but unable to access this Recyle bin folder, I have setup this recyle bin with 15 days retention.

OK, so go to the web ui and extend the retention.

Then, open as administrator, a command prompt.

Assuming the IP address above is correct, enter at the prompt “net view \192.168.2.50” (without the quotes). You should see the full list of shares. Below are mine.

Shared resources at \192.168.1.xxx

WD My Cloud EX4

Share name Type Used as Comment

Apps Disk Applications
Backup Disk
Home Disk All of my stuff
Office Disk Work Files
P2P Disk P2P Folder Share
Public Disk
Recycle Bin - Volume_1 Disk Recycle Bin Directories
SmartWare Disk
Tia Disk
TimeMachineBackup Disk
USB Disk USB Device Share
VM Disk Virtual Machines
The command completed successfully.

If you see it there (like mine appears above). Then enter at the command prompt:

net use r: “\192.168.2.50\wdnas\recycle bin - volume_1”

This time with the quotes around the full share name due to the spaces. Also substitute r: with an available letter if it’s already mapped.

On my Win11 23H2, I can browse my network and see my EX4 and all of the shares underneath. Some are already mapped. If I attempt to open one of the “restricted” ones, like Smartware, P2P or TimeMachineBackup, I get a login box.

Thanks for your support , the actual problem was with the firmware version " 5.31.101 " . I have to download the previous "5.30.103 " version and it’s working fine now.
