How to back up Plex (or any app) settings and data?

I decided to give Plex a try as Twonky is a bit light featured. It works pretty well but I wonder how to back up my settings and library information?  The actual media files are backed up with a share backup job but what about the “internals”?  Are they included in the system configuration export?  I have a hard time believing so because that file is so small and a 4000+ music library would certainly generate quite a bit of meta data.  

Anyone know about this?
